【著者简介】 杰弗里•帕克教授是英国当代著名的地缘政治学家和军事史学家，现任美国俄亥俄州立大学安德烈亚斯•多帕伦欧洲史教授、莫尚国际安全研究中心成员，英国学术院和西班牙皇家历史学院院士，曾获得2012年喜力历史奖，2014年凭《全球危机》获得英国学术院奖章。曾主编《剑桥战争史》，另著有《菲利普二世的大战略》《皇帝：查理五世传》《菲利普二世传》等。 【译者简介】 廖平，英国牛津大学沃尔夫森学院历史学博士，现任职于安徽师范大学历史学院，从事近代早期英国史、欧洲军事史研究，出版有《英国故事：从11世纪到脱欧动荡，千年历史的四重变奏》《安妮女王时代的英格兰（第二卷）》《复辟：查理二世和他的王国》等译著。

季羡林（1911-2009），山东临清人。1934年毕业于清华大学外语系,翌年作为清华大学与德国的交换研究生赴德国哥廷根大学学习梵文、巴利文、吐火罗文,获哲学博士学位。1946年回国在北京大学东方语言系任教授，曾任北大副校长、南亚研究所所长、中国史学会常务理事等职。对印度古代语言、印度古典文学、印度佛教史以及中印文化关系等方面有精深研究，著作颇丰,有《中印文化关系史论丛》、《罗摩衍那安探》、《今译》（合著），译有《沙恭达罗》、《五卷书》、《罗摩衍那》等。
